Interpretive signage should attempt to create a narrative that generates a positive experience coupled with elements of information and education. These last two elements need to be presented in an accessible, interesting and exciting way – allowing the scope for the user to interpret the experience in their own way. Sometimes described as an ’embodied experience’ the combined effect of narrative and information should allow the user to remember long term, the location and the things discovered.
